Former capital of Myanmar and starting point of my journey.
Here I will meet two friends with whom I will travel around for 2 of my 12 weeks of sabbatical.
First impression: here, a lot of people actually wear the face paint made from Tanaka paste. Even in the city!
Second impression: Hot! ;)
The smell in the streets: intense!
I almost got run over 7 times, but only almost!-)
Beautiful buildings, but unfortunately in total disrepair.
Tourists? None! After the two at the hostel, I did not encounter a single 'westerner' all day. But I got lots of curious looks.
Had a delicious lunch at a street food stall. Communication with hands and feet works too :).
Afterwards, a visit to the Sule Pagoda to cleanse my karma ;) and fittingly, it's the day of the Rat, my birth animal.
On Day 2, the three of us finally start with a three-hour train ride around Yangon. Once again, the only white breads, but with lots of adventure!-)
