On the eve, it already started to rain and this morning didn't look any better. I was unsure, but the weather websites on the internet are predicting rain for all places in the next few days. I decided to wait until after breakfast and then decide whether to stick to my plan or make some last-minute changes. The weather actually cleared up a bit after breakfast, so off through the clouds again.
The ascent was easier than the descents of the past few days because I produced enough warmth. The scenery was also a fantastic fairy tale fog forest in the clouds. On the descent, strong gusts of wind added to the experience, but I enjoyed it. 5km before reaching my accommodation, I was still 700 meters in altitude away from it. That meant another hour back up the mountain for New Year's Eve. Baling is a village on the mountain where only indigenous people live and they bring city dwellers closer to country life in their hotels and farms. In the evening, we pounded rice into dough and roasted chestnuts with salt.
I have a little cash problem because I somehow forgot to withdraw money. Since I could only pay for the room in cash and the ATM in town only accepts local bank cards. In the evening, I didn't need any money as I was invited to a barbecue by a company outing. They really went all out here at the hotel, with oysters and everything. The evening went a bit longer and the first alcohol after 2 weeks hit me pretty quickly. I won't do anything special tomorrow, probably just help out at the farm again and maybe go to bed before 12 o'clock.
