After about 3 hours drive from Redcliffe, we reach Rainbow Beach, a (still) tranquil, small holiday resort on the east coast (it is still off-season). The coastal curve extends from Inskip Point, where the ferries to Fraser Island depart, to Double Island Point: a 30-kilometer-long sandy beach in a variety of colors, from almost white to jet black, golden brown, ochre... Hence the name Rainbow Beach.
At low tide, you can explore it on foot or reach great views over the high sand dunes. There are many surfers, and at the guarded beach protected from sharks by nets, you can also swim and let the waves carry you away.
After an initial walk, we move into our holiday apartment and end the day with a delicious meal.
