We have already been to Hot Water Beach with my brother and we liked it so much that we immediately booked 2 nights here. We arrived late, so after our arrival, we first had something to eat and then we lay in the car and watched a movie because it started raining again. The next day we went to Hahei. There we wanted to see the so-called Cathedral Cove, a hole in a rock where you can walk from one bay to the next. To get there, you have to walk for 45 minutes. The path is very easy, you can also walk it with a stroller and wheelchair. Since the path runs along the sea, you can get a good view of the many small islands in the bay. And then the beach around the Cathedral Cove, it is beautiful. There are a lot of people there, as it is a real tourist attraction, but it is still worth it. We spent about 1.5 hours at Cathedral Cove, enjoying the beautiful weather and the beach, before we made our way back to the car. On the way back to Hot Water Beach, we treated ourselves to an ice cream. When we arrived at Hot Water Beach, we went straight to the beach, but unfortunately it was high tide. We thought that maybe you could still dig your own hot spring at high tide, but we were wrong. We dug very deep and still no hot water came out. So we thought, okay, let's go swimming if the waves are so high.... Well, I went in for a moment and the waves tossed me around so much that I was covered in sand everywhere and didn't feel like it anymore. After our failed 30-minute beach trip, we returned to the campsite and I had to wash my hair intensively three times to get all the sand out again. I looked like... a sand monster.... We planned to go to the beach the next morning to try our luck with the hot springs again before we had to check out. However, the weather was so bad the next morning that we changed our minds...
