I haven't been able to part with Rita and Hans-Peter yet, so we went to Sintra together. Here Hilde and Peter joined us (they document their journey at antonontour.de). So the travel group was complete for this week. Hilde and Peter have been traveling the world for their entire lives, when they're not working in their music store.
In Sintra, we went to Palacio Nacional de Penta by bike. The palace is known for its colorful facade.
Here we were at the courtyard of a camper workshop. So it made sense to have my broken 12V USB socket repaired. Now I am even more self-sufficient and less dependent on official parking spaces.
After Sintra, we went from Mafra to the lagoon of Óbidos. In Mafra, there is the largest monastery in Portugal. It has 1200 rooms and the library has over 36,000 books. For 6 euros entrance fee, we were able to stay in the extensive monastery.
The next day we went to Óbidos in the morning. Here, the city wall goes completely around the city center and you can walk around the city on the wall. If the men hadn't been afraid of heights, we would have walked on the wall, but it ended up being just a short detour to the wall.
In the afternoon, we continued to Nazaré. Here, a few times a year, there are the highest waves in the world. However, we were not lucky and had to settle for the beautiful beach.
Today the travel group splits up in all directions. I'm looking forward to the coming week. More about that in the next post ;-)
