We say goodbye to Christchurch and head towards Dunedin. The Rakaia River impresses again with its turquoise water. Amazing. We drive through the ski resorts of New Zealand and then return to the coast. In Oamaru, the most impressive streets are lined with Victorian commercial buildings. Art is exhibited around these streets. We then continue to the Moeraki Boulders. These are spherical rocks (concretions) that can have a diameter of up to 2 meters. The balls are made of clay, mud and clay, held together by calcite. The formation process took four to five million years. The age of the balls is estimated at 60 million years. So we arrive in Dunedin in the evening.
