Hakone - Mount Fuji

Ebipụtara: 15.04.2019

There is a special pass (Hakone Free Pass) for the Hakone region, which allows you to explore the region using various modes of transportation: cable cars, trains, buses, and pirate ships. Yes, you read that right. You can cross Lake Ashi on a pirate ship.

We used all of these modes of transportation today. Overall, it must be said that public transportation in Japan works perfectly. There are practically no delays. The service is consistently courteous, and even tourists can easily find their way around.

First, we took the cable car to the Owakudani Crater today. You cross this crater with the cable car, from which stinking sulfurous vapors rise. A delicacy here are the eggs boiled in the sulfurous vapors, which turn black. Supposedly, if you eat these eggs, you will live 7 years longer. That's why we had to try them, of course.

From the mountain station, we could admire Mount Fuji in the distance. We were very lucky that the weather was so good and we were able to see the entire Fuji, because the probability of that is only about 20-30%. The top of Fuji is usually shrouded in clouds. This mountain immediately captivated us. It's no wonder that the Japanese consider it sacred.

By the way, Mount Fuji is 3,776 meters high and its last eruption was in 1707. In Japan, Fuji is considered a symbol of happiness.

Due to its size, you can admire Fuji (on such great weather like today) from many places in the region. It is simply beautiful from every angle.
