New friends and a mighty cathedral

Ebipụtara: 09.07.2018

All the time you meet new people. From so many different countries. It's very exciting to hear about their lives. On the bus trip to Leon, I got to know two girls from Norway. Very nice. They also work as educators. One in preschool and the other in school. We noted that there are many teachers on the Camino. It was a pleasant evening and the next morning. Yesterday they flew home and I continued walking alone, and in the evening I had already come across a group of Germans whom I walked with today all the way to Astorga. It was about 30 km.

Then you meet some people who seem to live on the Camino. They walk back and forth and seem to be helpful for the pilgrims, or they have built up a little paradise by the road, a bar, a little oasis where tired pilgrims can land and enjoy. Especially when such places only survive on donations, it becomes very fulfilling. There are also some people who spend their summer vacations as volunteers on the Camino. Then you work as a host in an albergue. Unpaid out of pure conviction to support and contribute. Fantastic!
