Today we took a trip to a nature reserve on the banks of the Rio de la Plata. Unfortunately, the weather was not so good. On the way there, we drove past the famous Villa 31, the shantytown that is located in the middle of the city on expensive land. You can see the shacks on top, right next to the highway. Every now and then, someone climbs over the barrier and runs across the lane or they grill on the edge of the highway... We didn't see that today, but we heard about it from colleagues.
We also drove past the River Plate football stadium. That is one of the two biggest clubs here, the other one is Boca Juniors. You should definitely be a fan of the right club, and you are often asked about it. My students asked me right at the beginning which team I support. After some research, it turned out that everyone here is a River fan and it's best not to mention Boca. In our house, there were cups from both clubs, but the neighborhood children immediately told us to throw away the cup from the wrong club and they didn't even want to touch it... pretty crazy with the soccer here (you can see the logos of the clubs below). The nature reserve was quite small, but nice... We saw turtles (on the branch in the water), a cardinal, the bird with the red crest, and the 'sea'...
