We left France with heavy hearts. We will drive home in stages over the next few days.
Originally, the same return route was planned. Through Lyon and Stuttgart, but the navigation system suggested that Italy was the shorter way. So we passed by Monaco and shortly after crossed the border. And then, Italy was not on our navigation! We superbrains completely forgot to download Italy beforehand. Now we had to figure out how to get to our chosen stop. It was still simple on the highway, but after that, it wasn't so easy anymore. Finally, we arrived at our destination Acqui Terme and explored the town.
Of course, in Italy, we had to taste some Gelati. After the usual back and forth in the town and a coffee, we parked at the official parking area for motorhomes. However, it was right next to the main road and close to the center, which made it quite noisy. So we decided to move and ended up in a quiet parking area on the outskirts of the town. We quickly got into bed, and then the alarm on the neighboring solar field went off and on again. After someone came and quieted it down, we finally thought we would have some peace, but 10 minutes later the police arrived. Now we were a bit anxious because in Italy it's not allowed to stay overnight in parking areas. The police car parked a few meters away from us and observed us. And we were in the camper observing the police in turn. This went on for a while, and after about 20 minutes, the Italian officers decided that we were harmless and needed some rest urgently. They drove away without waking us up. Finally, we could sleep in peace.
