Nachtrodeln/ Night Sledding

Hi Friends,

I want to tell you again a little bit about the last days.

Last Saturday we went night sledding! In the pictures you can see how far it went down. We sat in pool-like pillows for it. That was really fun! And we got some nice snow in our faces while doing it. 😂 Of course, a snowball fight couldn't be missing.

On Sunday, a student and I went out to eat with a staff member. We invited her because it was her birthday. :) I'm telling you, fries with barbecue sauce is the best thing I've had here. 😍 But barbecue sauce is also really good. I've been eating so much of it since I've been here. But you can also use the sauce on so many foods. 🤷🏼‍♀️

In the evening, I was at a staff family's home and had arranged to meet the daughter. In the course of the evening, I was also shown rifles and guns. I was allowed to try them out. They were, of course, unloaded. Fortunately, I think I would be much too careless with them. 😅😂 In one picture, you can see the gun collection. Many guns for different intents. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that you can just buy them at Walmart here.

Now let's get to a rather messy thing, but since we're talking about guns.... On Saturday, animals will be slaughtered on the ranch and we also have to process them. Do you see the cows in the pictures? Those are the ones that won't be alive next week. 😅 I don't know if I even want to eat meat after that. 😟 We don't see when they are slaughtered, but how they are hung. They call the slaughtering process 'butchering' here. But I will tell you more about that.

Things are going quite well with my media area. We have set up a studio now and plan to take portrait photos of the students. We have a lot of snow at the moment! Snow pictures make such a difference. My absolute favorite situation is when the sun goes down and the red light reflects on the snow. 🥰 Or when icicles are the object in the foreground.

Today, I have a bit of free time. Usually, I use the day to talk on the phone with friends and family.

I will definitely tell you about the 'butchering' and how I feel about eating meat afterwards. 😅😂

Until the next post 🙃
