Albufeira

Ebipụtara: 01.12.2021

After 8 nights in Salema, we are heading east again. Albufeira is located in the middle of the Algarve. We will spend a total of 2 weeks here, although initially only one week was planned. We have arrived at the winter residence of retirees. Many large camper vans with trailers, cars, and thick awnings with Christmas lights. Otherwise, it is beautiful here. The campsite is great and we can directly access the fantastic Albufeira through a park. We are extending for another week because we are also waiting for a package from Germany. But as expected, it will not arrive on time, because tomorrow we are heading to Tavira. But no problem, the Algarve is short and you never have to drive long.

Albufeira is a larger and very touristy city. A beautiful city beach in the middle of cliffs. When we explore the city, we are a bit confused. Clubs, bars, clubs, bars... lots of them, always right next to each other. In the season, this is probably the hip party city of the Algarve. But there is also a charming old town.

After our arrival, we also experience the first long rainy days. The weather here is unpredictable. In the morning, the sun is shining and within 5 minutes everything becomes cloudy and it pours down. So we spend a lot of time in Polly. Finally, a great opportunity to test the Omnia oven thoroughly. The first cake is on the menu and it works great. The next longer stay will try a bread. After the rainy days, we head to a lagoon behind the dunes, outside Albufeira. It is said that you can spot flamingos there. But we have read this before and have had no luck so far. But behold - we are lucky! Not many, but we were able to observe some wild flamingos. Conveniently, there is a long sandy beach behind it, the so-called Praia Grande, where we can enjoy the sun and the sea. On our second visit, we have less luck and the flamingos are in a corner of the lagoon that is hardly accessible. We will start our next attempt in the lagoons of Tavira...
