Cancun & Tulum

Ebipụtara: 04.03.2017

So, first impressions of Mexico digested. So we slept two nights in Cancun, took it easy both days and spent one day at the beach, then we continued to Tulum, which seems to be somewhat my Koh Lanta in Mexico, two nights here first, and then back to Cancun, at least to experience a Spring Break party (although I'm not sure if I want to do that) and to say goodbye to Malte on Monday, because Flöchen still has some time and flies from Miami to Cologne at the end of March.

I don't know exactly what will happen next, there are a lot of things swirling around in my head like Guatemala, Colombia, and Peru... so we'll see what happens then.

Tomorrow, we're definitely going swimming with sea turtles and then, as I said, we're going to Cancun. On my list here are Chichen Itza (Mayan temple) and Isla Mujeres.

The next day:

How do you know you're in Mexico? Right, the beach is closed due to some gang story, masked guys with homemade baseball bats and sticks tell us that they're waiting for the cops and we can't go to the beach now. Looks like no turtles.

So we drive to the next beach and once again go to one of the cenotes, I still haven't understood exactly what that is, but it's pretty cool, you can definitely snorkel and it's fresh water.

Afterwards, we go to the nearby Mayan ruins, since we're hungry, we settle in a restaurant. We hang out here for a while and when the moment comes to start, the weather goes crazy. Malte and I decide to walk anyway, meaning swimming trunks, admission, GoPro, and off we go. The others watch our stuff while we're gone. 2 minutes into the walk and it stops raining, I don't really care, if anything, it's good rather than bad, but Malte has the following problem now: no sunscreen and a monster sunburn, so he mooches off mine. That works too. Ruins can be explored, unfortunately, the beach is also closed because the waves are too high.

On the way back, we see a -I'm not sure- coati or something. Additionally, I would like to mention at this point that I saw a hummingbird.
