Kuala Lumpur - nnukwu, iche, akwụkwọ ndụ akwụkwọ ndụ - na anyị nọ n'etiti

Ebipụtara: 26.01.2019

A warm hello from Kuala Lumpur, the third metropolis on our journey. Coming here was a very spontaneous decision, actually the station was not on my imaginary to-do list. But as a stopover on the way to Singapore, we decided to give it a chance.

After breakfast at a small sweet café, the train took us from Ipoh to Kuala Lumpur in just under 3 hours. The city welcomed us with rain, but we didn't feel it at the train station. I probably wouldn't have noticed anyway, as the size of the building overwhelmed me. I had booked a hotel right at the station so that we wouldn't have to go far after arrival. But I didn't expect that we would find ourselves in a huge labyrinth of various train stations, trains, shops, and restaurants spread over 8 floors. It couldn't be far, but we had to find the right exit on the right floor. There was no sign... nothing at all! After a few helpful hints from locals, we actually found our hotel.

After checking in, we went out again. It was only half past 3 and we still wanted to see something of the city. The perfect way to get an overview seemed to be the hop-on-hop-off bus. We could already imagine ourselves sitting comfortably on the open-top double-decker, enjoying the fresh air and the view... but unfortunately, we didn't consider the rain. It ruined our plan. So we only did the hop-on part and got off again at the starting point... 3 hours later 🙈 I underestimated the distances here, as well as the rush hour traffic. But at least we stayed somewhat dry and got a first impression of Kuala Lumpur. I must say, the city is surprisingly green and surprisingly likable. Tomorrow we will make another attempt with the bus, maybe we will succeed with the hop-off part too :)

Even though we didn't do much walking today, the day was still exhausting. Stays in big cities are usually somehow exhausting. And the days when we travel from A to B are always exhausting. Today, both came together. Nora always holds up surprisingly well and for a long time. She usually insists on not being tired even at 11 in the evening. Nevertheless, she falls asleep within 5 minutes every night :)
