Day 19 - September 16, 2024 Drive from Morro Bay to Santa Barbara

Ebipụtara: 17.09.2024

Today we stayed overnight in Morro Bay. In the morning, we had a wonderful view from our hotel room of the bay with the rock formation. In the small harbor, many boats🚤🛥️🚤🛥️ were docked. One of them had been taken over by a bunch of pelicans. We packed our suitcase and then set off to our last, eighth accommodation on this vacation in Santa Barbara.

How quickly time has already passed. At the moment, we aren't experiencing as many breathtaking sights as we did at the beginning of our journey. We are making more frequent stops and enjoying the many beautiful bays and beaches.

This morning, we made our own coffee☕️ in the accommodation and then left right away. We had breakfast in the form of bars 🍫 and cookies🍪. It all has to go soon anyway. 😅

On our way, we spontaneously decided to drive out to see the scenery. By chance, we ended up at Pismo Beach or Dinosaur Cave, where hundreds of pelicans and seagulls were hanging out on the outlying rocks. I won't even describe how it smelled. If you know the smell of guano, you can multiply that by ten.👃🏻🫰🏻 But we got really close to the animals, and they flew back and forth over us. Kathi was a bit afraid of getting some luck from above 😆.

We then quickly drove inland through Guadalupe - where we briefly bought some fresh fruit - and continued on to El Capitan ⛰️ State Beach Park at the coast. To be able to go to the restroom quickly, we had to pay ten dollars 💵 for entry to the state park. The view in the bay was gorgeous, and there were hardly any people. This state park was also a campground, but it was far from being fully booked.

Since we didn't want to get back to the hotel too late that day, we drove on towards Santa Barbara. We arrived here at around 1:00 PM and checked in at the hotel first. Since we both hadn't eaten much, we drove once more towards the beach to find a restaurant and had Italian 🇮🇹 food again. That’s enough for this vacation.

We're looking forward to Grandma's savoy cabbage😋. Today we shared our wish list over the phone. Now she's busy for a while 😂.

Kathi then zipped around Santa Barbara alone for an hour. She (or we) really likes the place because it is very clean and well-maintained. She picked out one to three houses 😂.
