2 really cool climbing routes in Nauders

Nauders am Reschenpass. One of my favorite destinations when it comes to outdoor fun of the highest class. Cool mountain tours, challenging summit climbs, and dizzying via ferratas. A place exactly to my liking. :)

Here are some of my personal highlights from the region:

Tirolerweg Via Ferrata

The exciting adventure started at the mountain station of the Bergkastel cable car at an altitude of 2200 meters. The path to the start goes along the Zirmbahn to the mountain station. Behind it is another alpine lift, from which you can follow the marked path into the block canyon of the Nauder "Goaßloch".

The entry point to the via ferrata is at an altitude of 2600 meters. Right at the start, climbing ability is tested. After overcoming the D section, you follow the wire rope through the summit wall, in a westward direction over the ridge to the second notch.

The Tirolerweg via ferrata is a varied and physically demanding via ferrata in the medium difficulty level and has some key sections, such as the demanding D/E variant over a freestanding tower, which can be bypassed.

Due to its elevation of almost 3,000 meters, this is a high alpine via ferrata that is only recommended for experienced climbers with the right equipment. Here you climb without ladders or clamps, but the tower variant is quite challenging. Only a few step aids have been installed in the steep and exposed terrain of the upper section. After 400 meters of climbing, the phenomenal view of Lake Reschen and the Ortler compensates for the hardships of the last few hours.

Goldweg Via Ferrata - Bergkastelspitz

This tour also starts at the mountain station of the Bergkastel cable car. From there, we take hiking trail No. 33 in a southeasterly direction, passing the mountain station of the Goldsee drag lift. Along the yellow-marked path, we continue east until we reach the entry point at a ridge.

The via ferrata starts quite easily, with some A/B sections. But this should change quickly. Suddenly, I was standing right in front of the 14-meter high Gold Wall, the key section of the via ferrata. Along the vertical and smooth wall (D/E), it goes steeply uphill and along the ridge. Afterwards, there is only one slightly more difficult section left, a steep ascent with some stepping stones.

Arriving at the 2912-meter-high Bergkastelspitz, you can enjoy a magnificent panorama of the Ötztal mountain world.

Accommodation in Nauders

I keep coming back to Nauders because I really love the mountain world there. Although I'm more or less not in my accommodation all day, it's still very important to me to have a nice and satisfying hotel.

Why? Quite simply: after my tours, I am tired and exhausted, and I always look forward to spending the evening with my partner in a relaxed atmosphere. Because let's be honest, what could be more pleasant than treating yourself to a massage or a treatment after a long day on your feet?

Then take a detour to the wellness area and relax in a bathrobe on a sun lounger.

That's exactly how I spent my hiking vacation this year at the Hotel Post in Nauders. Absolutely wonderful!!
