Table Mountain - Picnic - Dinner at the Waterfront

Ebipụtara: 03.11.2022

On Tuesday, Philippe wasn't feeling well. The plan was to go to Table Mountain. We were in constant contact with Liliane and Philippe and decided to cancel the plans at short notice because the cable car was not yet operating due to strong winds. However, we couldn't stop thinking about the mountain, so we adjusted our plans and decided to go to Table Mountain after all. Philippe was feeling a little better by then, so we left Cape Diem Lodge around 8:30 am to pick up Studer's in Sea Point and drive to the Table Mountain cableway via Camps Bay.

When we arrived, there were already many cars parked on the way to the cableway, but I wasn't discouraged because I knew there was another parking lot behind/after the cableway station. And that's exactly what happened - we were able to park our car very close to the cableway station. We quickly bought our tickets online using our mobile phones and then joined the short line of people with tickets, and soon we were on the Garaventa cable car ascending to Table Mountain. The cable car rotates, so everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the mountain station as well as the magnificent views of the city, the harbor, and the soccer stadium.

At the top, we looked towards Camps Bay/Clifton and also enjoyed the stunning view of the Mother City. Just as we arrived, a fire brigade team had also arrived to locate and extinguish any remaining embers from the fires over the past weekend.

After thoroughly enjoying the view, we took the cable car back down and then headed towards Constantia by car, where we ordered a picnic at Simon's (in Groot Constantia).

The facility is beautiful, the park as well, but after Warwick and the experience at Cape Point Vineyard (2019), the bar is set high for picnics and it was okay, but unfortunately not more than that. However, we enjoyed the break in the garden and then drove back to our accommodations via the Waterfront.

In the evening, we had dinner at GINJA (at the Waterfront) and ended the day there.
