Today we went to Hluboká Castle, also known as Frauenberg Castle. The Czech name is derived from a fountain and means 'the depth'. The castle originally started as a royal castle, was later converted into the Renaissance style, and then during the reign of Princess Eleonore, it was transformed into the Neo-Gothic Windsor style.... reminded me of Hogwarts. The castle had many different owners, but mostly belonged to the Schwarzenberg family. During the tour, we learned a lot about the family's history and tragedies, such as one member being shot during a deer hunt, one dying in a fire at a ball in Paris, and one dying of smallpox. The interiors were also impressive, although photography was not allowed. From the tower with 245 steps (we counted 244), there was a fantastic view. Conclusion: Amazing castle and worth a visit.
