Dharamkot

Ebipụtara: 26.11.2018

So, it's time again. And after I was in my hostel in Dharamkot for longer and shorter than expected, which was 2.5km from McLeod Ganj and about 7km from Dharamshala, I can briefly tell you about the beautiful days I spent there.

Starting with a clean six-bed room, which I mostly had to myself, waterfalls in the region, the exile place of the Dalai Lama, and relaxing in the hippie tent in the evening, which was set up on the roof of the hostel.

The hostel was a dream. Super beautiful view of the mountains, clean beds, good food, and super lovely people. You can't complain. Also very well located for leisure activities.

So I decided to walk to Dharamshala on the first day, down the mountain, when a friendly young man offered me a ride on his Royal Enfield down the mountain after I had first asked if it would cost anything, which was not the case. So I started the day with a pretty interesting experience :) Afterwards, I went hiking somewhere in the mountains around Dharamshala, struggled back up the mountain to McLeod Ganj, and then home.

On the second day, I decided to hike to a waterfall in the area with a willing hostel guest. So we went and the route there was a beautiful mountain path through the forest. When we arrived, my boundless stupidity came up with the idea of taking a bath in the ice-cold mountain water...

It was really freezing, especially since the sun hadn't shone into the valley yet. Afterwards, I went back home, started reading something, and ended the day nicely.

On the third day, I went to the waterfall again with someone else, but at a slightly later time of day so that we could warm up in the sun. I also visited the Buddhist temple of the Dalai Lama.

The fourth day started in the morning with the experience of doing your own laundry. Then I took a walk to McLeod Ganj and to another waterfall. In the afternoon, I received a call saying that the bus to Rishikesh for the following day was canceled, so I was able to book the bus for the fourth day and arrived in Rishikesh in the morning without sleep.
