After our last self-prepared breakfast at the hotel in the 'city' of Koh Kong, we took a Tuk Tuk to the beach Koh Kong. There we booked our next accommodation.
We were greeted very friendly here and got a welcome drink - water with lime.
Afterwards we got our hut 🥹 we LOVE it here!
Afterwards we just chilled. At some point the owners came back. They were getting a baby monkey 🥺 however, they rescued it. They bought it from a family who kept 2 baby monkeys as pets in a small bird cage. The one monkey was eaten by a snake the night before... The owners of the accommodation now have the monkey in a slightly larger cage. He will stay there only until he is taken to a rescue center, where he will be brought to a monkey mommy who will then take care of him. Hopefully the little one can soon lead a normal life. The little one is only 6 months old. They will take care of him as best they can. We think this is a great action.
Later we walked along the beach a bit to see where we could possibly eat in the evening. Here we found a wonderful beach swing.
Then we watched a lot of sand bubble crabs, as they pick up the sand, extract the nutrients from it, and then deposit it again as a ball, so they know which sand they have already searched through.
Back at our resort, we sunbathed. At some point we wanted a snack and treated ourselves to the best banana passionfruit smoothie we've ever had.
In the evening, we took a shower and sat on our 'balcony' to watch the sunset.
After the sunset, we checked out the restaurants. It's still quite expensive around here. But the people here probably know that you are 'forced' to buy it, as there is nothing around here. The selection is also very limited. So we had stir-fried noodles with seafood again.
Then we went back, chilled on the balcony for a while, and went to the bar to have a beer. One became two and a half. But the hosts are just super cool and you can finally have a proper conversation. The two of them are from France and have worked in the tourism industry, so they speak really good English.
Also, we HAD to stay up longer because 🥹 they said that you can also see the plankton in the water glow at night here. That was the only reason why I was really a bit sad that we didn't go to Koh Rong and now the chance to see it was still very high. They said that you can't always see it, but it was there the night before. So we waited... And then it was finally there 😍😍 so we first cautiously and then like little children jumped around in the water (with our hostess) and paddled around. It was SO COOL! Many people told me that you can only see it very faintly, but there was so much of it and it was very bright. You could also see it in the waves, and when you lifted your arms out of the water, you still had little glowing dots on your arms and top for a few seconds (we were fully clothed, unprepared). Neither on pictures nor on videos could this moment be captured, but it will remain in our memory forever 🥰
In general, I can't count how many times we said yesterday that we have now arrived in paradise, said that it couldn't get any better now, and each time were convinced of the opposite. We wished for a quiet and relaxing place for the last few days, where we can just relax and we got much more than that. It's just PERFECT.
