I spent a hot summer in 2021 on AIDAblu in Greece, our itinerary was as follows:
Corfu - Athens - Rhodes - Crete - Katakolon - Corfu - Katakolon - Crete - Rhodes - Athens - Corfu
In Athens, we visited Cape Sounion and then had a Uzo tasting after an extensive tour. On our second visit, we toured the city center and the main attractions such as the Olympic Stadium and the Acropolis of Athens. However, this was quite challenging at around 48 degrees on the Acropolis hill.
In Rhodes, we visited Lindos, the Acropolis of Rhodes, and the Old Town of Rhodes. Here, we enjoyed great views and very interesting historical buildings. On our second visit, we decided to have a relaxing day at Tsambika Beach. This was much needed during such a heatwave.
In Crete, we explored the island of Spinalonga. Here too, there was a lot of history to see and many old buildings. On our second visit, we had Rethymnon and Chania on the excursion program. Both cities have their charm and are worth a visit.
In Katakolon, we had the opportunity to explore ancient Olympia, including the arena, and have a wine tasting on our second visit.
In Corfu, a visit to Achilleion, the former vacation residence of the Austrian Empress, was a must. Here, we saw a lot of history again. Furthermore, there was a beautiful garden and several statues. We also took a city tour and visited the old fortress.
After 14 days on AIDAblu, we finally returned home to escape the extreme heat.
