After exactly 7 weeks, we are now sitting here where we first entered Africa as a family of four: in Johannesburg!
We have had some wonderful experiences during this time!
We are incredibly happy and grateful for this long family time.
At the beginning of January, after everything was already booked, we cancelled our trip with the travel agency. Our worries and fears had become too big. What a shock when you read the warnings from the Foreign Office for Namibia and South Africa. And then there? With children? But why do so many families go there year after year? Everyone who has been there or is there says it is safe and good to travel. After many conversations and considerations, sleepless nights, and having all precautions and rules of conduct in mind, we finally started our journey. And to be honest, a little bit of fear was always with us. At least for me.
The decision not to travel further in South Africa was a good one. It's different when we have two young children with us, compared to when we were just two.
Now we are simply happy and grateful that everything went well! No dangerous situations, no car/tire problems, no injuries, no animal bites... just amazing experiences, many wonderful encounters, and we also got to know children to play with.
And only four days below 30 degrees Celsius in 7 weeks 😉!
And three birthdays that we usually celebrate with a jacket, hat, and scarf.
There is so much more to tell!
We are grateful to all of you who have taken part in our journey!!!
Now we are really looking forward to our home! And to our family and friends!
Only, it could be a bit warmer...
See you soon!
By the way, if you want good advice, we can recommend the travel agency "Southern Cross" in Hannover 😉. All accommodations were really great, and everything was perfectly and personally organized. Simply awesome.
