5 days Watsons Bay

Diterbitkan: 24.12.2017

Actually, I wanted to take the ferry to Circular Quay (city center) today, but on the way there it was so nice to walk through the empty quiet streets that I changed my plan at the last minute. I then walked through the streets towards Watsons Bay in order to possibly use the ferry from there. I passed by these charming little bays that I saw on day 3. They are still enchanting, but today they were full of people. You can hardly believe how a beach can change. It always reminds me of when I came to Wangen 27 years ago and in spring I would always ride my bike towards Lake Constance. I would always pass by Degersee and think, what a beautiful idyllic lake, you should go there with your son in the summer. That's how you should imagine the bays two days ago.

Yes, and then imagine Degersee in the summer with nice weather, that's how the beaches were today at 32°C at 11 o'clock.

Unfortunately, it became cloudy at 1 o'clock. It was then 35 degrees, it became very very humid and a thunderstorm was approaching. I wanted to take the ferry from there, but apparently everyone wanted to do the same. So I just started walking again and actually made it home before the big thunderstorm. By the way, it cooled down to 23 degrees. I actually wanted to go somewhere to eat tonight, but I guess I was too late. You just have to order in advance.

So, I went back to my trusted fish shop and got fried calamari rings and fried langoustines with a Greek salad. I also had some olive bread. Unfortunately, no wine. Here in the supermarket there is no alcohol, only in specialty shops. I survived!

By the way, the shops were all open today. The supermarket is also open tomorrow, but the other shops here in town are closed tomorrow and on the second day of Christmas (here called Boxing Day).

By the way, it's supposed to rain tomorrow and only be 22 degrees. Maybe that's the weather to go to the city center. It's also raining at the moment and I'm getting cozy with tea and my iPad.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas, see you tomorrow, Roswitha
