From Sanur to Nusa Dua

Sorry that it's been so long since you've heard from me, but the past few days I've been on the move or the hotel's WiFi wasn't working.

I've already left Sanur behind me. On my last evening there, I met up with Ben. We had met on Facebook and went out for a meal and a few beers together. It was a very enjoyable evening. I really love meeting so many different people on this journey. It's so much fun to hear about all the places they've been to and the experiences they've had.

Ben really wanted to try the Red Snapper, and since I had raved about how good it was, he ordered a 600g fish for himself.

The next morning, I took a taxi to Nusa Dua. It was a half-hour drive and cost 8 euros. I had arranged to meet Vanessa there. We had also met on Facebook, and when we shared our plans, she decided to book the same hotel as me.

Vanessa arrived a little later since her flight had just landed. In the evening, we got to know each other and had a few beers.

We hit it off right away and had breakfast together the next morning. Originally, we planned to go to the beach afterwards, but it was pouring rain all morning. However, we didn't waste the time and planned a day tour for the next day.

When it cleared up a bit in the afternoon, we went to the beach. However, we were a bit disappointed as there was a lot of rubbish floating in the sea and the beach was not really clean.

We needed a beer to recover from this disappointment. Right on the beach, there was a restaurant that belonged to a 5-star luxury hotel. The huge pool was very tempting, so we tried to sneak in. We confidently told the waiter that we would like two beers and if she could bring them to the pool. She said there was no problem, and we were excited. However, the 'Pool Officer' noticed us and chased us away. It was worth a try. So we still had our overpriced beer (6 euros!!!!) but 'only' in the restaurant with a view of the beach.

The next day, we took a day tour with the wonderful Komak. We immediately liked him and had a lot of fun with him.

We started the tour with the Air Terjun Tenggununga waterfall. The first one I have ever seen. It was really impressive to see something like that. Unfortunately, it had been raining a lot the days before, so the water was rather brown.

Next, we visited the Goa Gajah Temple, also known as the Elephant Cave. It was a beautiful complex that you could walk through with a guide. However, the guide wanted money, and not a small amount. So we walked through on our own and washed ourselves with holy water, which is said to bring good luck. We even received a blessing from a sweet old woman in the Buddhist temple.

Next, we stopped at a water temple along the way. It was again a beautiful complex with a lot to see. There was a huge pond with lots of koi fish.

Then we stopped at a coffee plantation to drink Luwak coffee. I had already done this on the first tour, but I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to do it again.

Finally, we visited the Uluwatu Temple. It is located on towering cliffs, and the view of the sea was also very impressive. The view was really breathtaking. However, at Uluwatu, you should beware of the monkeys. They are not as friendly as the ones in the Monkey Forest. They can be a bit aggressive, but you feel much safer when armed with an umbrella ;)

It was a long but very beautiful day, and like every day here, I'm glad to be able to experience it all.

The next day, Vanessa and I traveled together to Nusa Lembongan. Our driver Komak took care of everything. Since it is a small island just off Bali, we had to take a speedboat, which was a bit nerve-wracking. But we survived.
