The last 3 days we were in Hanoi - the capital of Vietnam. Besides a small shopping trip, we also experienced a lot of culture here.
First, we visited the prison museum, which was still in use until 60 years ago. While the French colonizers were spreading their influence here, all political opponents were put in this prison. So, exclusively Vietnamese people. The conditions in this prison were terrible. They were sitting with their feet chained on a mound and only received leftovers, some of which were already a few days old. As a result, many died from diseases caused by poor nutrition.
In addition to the prison museum, there is also the Ho Chi Minh complex. On this complex, a huge building has been built, which is the tomb of Ho Chi Minh. The body was mummified and can be visited for about 3 seconds.
Furthermore, we visited the botanical garden, the Temple of Literature, and a flag tower. We then also came across a Lenin statue.
Hanoi is particularly beautiful in the evening. Right next to the Old Quarter, there is a small lake that is beautifully illuminated.
