With a little bit of nerves in our stomachs, we made our way to the night train from Sofia to Istanbul. When we arrived at the platform, the conductor led us to our compartment.
We were ecstatic when we saw our compartment. Not only because we had our own compartment for the two of us, but also because we had our own refrigerator, our own washbasin, fresh bed sheets to put on, and snacks from the conductor (and all of this for 15€). I have to say - we felt like kings in this compartment. No comparison to our first night train!
The toilet was completely different from what we were used to, see for yourself. But everything works somehow. :D
At half past midnight, the first passport control was carried out before the border into Turkey. Around half past 1, we had to get off the train with our luggage and go through passport control again. Our backpacks were also checked, just like at the airport.
The conductor (we had become somewhat friends with him) wished us a good night and finally we were able to sleep until Halkili (Istanbul). Finally - a comfortable night with real sleep on the train.
Arriving in Istanbul, we set off to find our accommodation again - we definitely won't be bored! But first, as always... coffee ☕
