Since the beginning of September, I have been in Atlanta with Eris and Charles. A great city that I have had the opportunity to experience many times!
The first highlight here was a hike to Blood Mountain, where we walked a section of the Appalachian Trail, which spans a length of 3500 km and runs from Georgia to Maine in the north.
The next day, Eris and I went to Chattahoochee National Forest, specifically the Cohutta Wilderness, including camping. It was quite cold at night, around 8°C, but thanks to a new sleeping bag and sleeping mat, it was bearable. Camping was incredibly beautiful and relaxing, with no one in sight!
On Friday, we headed back home because we had a baseball game in the evening. For me, it is the most fascinating of all American sports - and it is also the oldest. The Atlanta Braves were hosting the Miami Marlins, but unfortunately the guests from Florida won in the end with a score of 7-1.
As most of you know, I am quite crazy about sports. So, on Sunday, we went to watch soccer - honestly, it was very unusual to watch Americans play, but the game and especially the atmosphere were impressive. The special thing about it: Atlanta United now plays its home games in the newly built football stadium, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium - a true gem and absolutely unique in its design! Atlanta United won 3-0 against FC Dallas that afternoon.
This weekend, we will have plenty of sunshine again! We are going to Florida for a week at the beach! Fortunately, Hurricane Irma did not leave any major damage there...
