After our usual daily start with breakfast and a walk, today we had a trip planned to The Hague. After a 10-minute walk and a 20-minute bus ride, we arrived at the main train station. We immediately noticed the many skyscrapers, each impressing with its own facade. Our exploration tour first took us to the city park with a wildlife enclosure. Even the deer were so hot today that they waded into the moat to cool down. We continued on foot to the city center with Hofvijver (Court Pond) and the Binnenhof (where the Dutch Parliament gathers). We walked past the Mauritshuis, where many art treasures are exhibited.
After a delicious lunch, we continued our walk towards the Royal Parliament. Unfortunately, we couldn't catch a glimpse of King Willem-Alexander, as all access to the official residence was blocked.
Since we were completely sweaty in the meantime due to the tropical temperatures, we headed to Scheveningen, the beach of The Hague. As expected, we were not the only ones with this idea. The beach was crowded, not a grain of sand left. We decided to take the shady path inside the pier and treated ourselves to a delicious waffle as a snack. At the end of the pier, we admired the amazing ferris wheel. No one wanted to ride it, as Mom was scared and the men were too lazy to wait at the end of the queue in the heat. We watched the crazies bungee jump from the tower and then started our journey back to the motorhome.
Back at the campsite, we went straight to the lake to cool down, and then we relaxed for the evening.
Conclusion of the day: when our dog voluntarily squeezes into the shade at a bus stop, it really is hot 😆
