The view of the clear sky promised perfect beer garden weather as we started our 14-day bike tour towards Hamburg at 10:00 am.
First, we went along the left side of the Elbe river, passing by Pillnitz Castle...
... and the "Blaues Wunder" bridge... ... until we reached the outer old town. At the "Carolabrücke" bridge, we changed sides of the Elbe river and had a beautiful view of the baroque city of Dresden just a few minutes away. Afterwards, we continued quickly on the well-developed and signposted Elbe Cycle Path towards Meißen. In the market square of the picturesque town of Altkötzschenbroda, we took a coffee break for some refreshment. We arrived in Meißen in the early afternoon, passing through Radebeul and Coswig. Since we were able to recharge our batteries in a beer garden just before Meißen, we had enough energy for a few extra kilometers. In Seußlitz, we ran out of steam and after a short search, we found accommodation at the Lemke family's place a bit off the Elbe Cycle Path. We took the ferry to Altlommatzsch for dinner at the Elbklause restaurant.
