Crime about Carlito...

Diterbitkan: 05.11.2021

19.10. Walter left for Montana in the early hours of the morning for work. Janet and Sam have to go to work. But we are allowed to stay alone in the house and yes, a second night is no problem. So much hospitality and trust touch us!

We spend the morning at the kitchen table pondering over PCR tests and where to get them in a reasonable time. We also have to send our souvenirs to Switzerland, wash, pack, get rid of some things completely, and make Carlito shine inside and out. Phew! Meanwhile, Maggie sleeps at our feet...

We manage to more or less get everything as we wanted - our heads are just smoking.

Janet is incredibly easygoing and helpful. We leave the Cummings with our food supplies, the cooler, and also with heavy hearts the Bearvolt. ;) But it's a nice feeling to know that nothing has to be thrown away (except for what was broken).

20.10. After a quick breakfast, it's time to say goodbye to the Cummings. The long drive to Denver lies ahead and there we will sell Carlito back to the dealer!

That's the plan. When we arrive on West Colfax Avenue, we are nervous and tense: will the sale work out?

At the beginning, everything looks quite promising: an employee takes a look at Carlito, takes a test drive, and then we are supposed to come to the office for price negotiations.

He offers to buy the car back for less than half of what we paid for it. We are somewhat shocked and confused, as we have also invested in the car and had some repairs done. There is no negotiating or raising the price, so we reject the offer and decide to sell Carlito on our own.

No problem, says the man, we just need to get a title at the office. A title is a document that states who is selling the car and who is buying it. Okay, no problem, we say to ourselves, let's do it. If it doesn't work out, we can still sell the car to them, he says when saying goodbye...

So we drive to the office. There, the shock follows: as tourists in Colorado, we were not allowed to buy a car. Now we are illegal car owners, great.

Furthermore, we have to get the title there where we claimed to live: in Fort Collins. So we rush nervously to the DMV office in Fort Collins. There, the shock sinks a little deeper: we need the signature of a person living here on the document. Because logically, only someone who is resident in Colorado can sell their car here... What the ****?!

And this person also has to come to the office to sign. So we rush straight to our friend Britney, explain our problem to her. We are lucky, Britney has the next day off and is willing to come to the office with us!

While Roman is mainly dealing with the officials, I place an ad on Craigslist.

After everything is "cleared" so far that the odyssey will continue tomorrow, we drive back to Denver because we have tickets for the Thrice concert.

At least our hotel is right across from the concert hall. A little disoriented, we check in, have a quick bite to eat, and join the queue. Unfortunately, something seems to be wrong with our tickets!? After all the hardships, this is a bit too much for our minds. Finally - everything resolves itself after 15 minutes and we can go in. The venue is awesome: nicely tiered, and even I can see the stage perfectly with my "graceful" height!

We enjoy the great concert and are blissful, until the thoughts of what lies ahead catch up with us... But there is a ray of hope: already 3 people have responded to our ad and 2 are from Fort Collins. We schedule both to come and see Carlito at lunchtime and hope for luck.
