Approximately 2 weeks after the idea was born, we booked the tickets to Helsinki. For a little less than 500 €, we found a direct round-trip flight, including baggage. We decided to take only ONE piece of luggage. We trust our common sense, because for 4 days you don't really need sooo much. There is also hand luggage! At Finnair, it can measure 56cm x 45cm x 25cm and weigh up to 8 KG.
In addition, you can also take a small personal item, such as a handbag, laptop bag, etc., with you on the plane, which must/can be stowed under the seat in front. It measures 40cm x 30cm x 15cm.
We will take Bibi's suitcase, it is bigger.
We also found our hotel somewhere on the internet, I don't remember where anymore, we visited quite a few pages! Here, too, we got away relatively cheaply. For Finnish standards. Of course, we were aware from the beginning that Helsinki is a bit more expensive than Frankfurt. Yes, we knew it, we just suppressed it, let's see how many thousands our credit cards will be overdrawn!
We bought a small travel guide and a phrasebook. The travel guide is great. The phrasebook is a challenge because I don't think these words in there really exist! The Finns are fooling us... It's difficult. And stay away from Google Translator!
(If I had spent just as much time on French back then, I probably wouldn't have dropped it.)
We sifted through all the pages on the internet to find out what is really worth seeing. But it always turns out differently than you think, we just let ourselves be surprised!
Helpful for sights and organization were, among others:
https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g189934-Activities-Helsinki_Uusimaa.html
https://www.flughafendetails.de/flughaefen/helsinki-vantaa-airport/
https://www.finnair.com/de/de/information-services/baggage/carry-on-baggage
But we will definitely not order mineral water!
It has nothing to do with stinginess, more with a knot in the tongue!
