22nd March Isla Santa Cruz - Isla San Cristobal

Pibliye: 27.03.2023

Early in the morning, the ferry goes to San Cristobal. There is no direct connection from Isla Isabela to San Cristobal. The entire ferry traffic goes through Santa Cruz. The island of San Cristobal consists of the town of Baquerizo Moreno, the airport, and the town of San Cristobal, southeast on the island. Towards San Cristobal, there is the only road across the island, which also connects the farms with Baquerizo Moreno. Most of the island is not accessible by roads, and the same applies to the beaches, which can be reached by boat. San Cristobal has long been over the hotspot, so all the volcanoes on the island are inactive.
In the morning, we reach the island, take our luggage to the hotel, and book our tour for the next day. Then we head to Playa Mann. It's hot and screaming for a cool down. Playa Mann consists of a sandy beach, but it becomes rocky in the water. And that's a playground for the fish. Snorkeling is worth it here. Big, small fish, schools of fish, and lots of sea lions, who always check if you're a suitable playmate. They swim around us, check and then find a better playmate. So we spend the afternoon snorkeling there. We visit another beach and then the Interpretation Center. Here, the formation of the Galapagos Islands, as well as the reasons behind the flora and fauna endemic to the Galapagos, are explained in a very illustrative way. The settlement history is also presented, as well as the history of the mysterious incidents on Isla Floreana around 1930 involving 9 people, of which 2 disappeared without a trace and 2 died. We enjoy the sunset on our hotel terrace. You can hear sea lions calling everywhere. They lie on the piers to rest or to scare walkers.
