We wake up properly before breakfast because Jonna discovers a cockroach in one of our cultural bags - we had been lucky enough for long enough. We briefly lose sight of it (not a nice feeling) and then find it again in the bathroom plant. Because both of us, in a ridiculous way, can't control our disgust, we let a staff member of the homestay know, who carries the visitor, along with the plant, out of the room for us. Now we can have breakfast in peace.
We repeat the beach visit from yesterday in a rather unspectacular way. It's just as busy and the waves are just as strong as yesterday. The only difference is that today we even have the opportunity to swim just a few meters away from the turtles and observe them up close. We (especially me) spend more time in the water than on the beach, which quickly makes us quite tired.
That's why we go back in the late afternoon, change quickly and go in search of something to eat - down-to-earth again today. Once again, we choose a local warung, where we order chicken with rice and unfortunately answer the question 'Pedas?' with 'Yes' - 'Pedas' means 'spicy' and 'spicy' in this case means 'hell turned into sauce'. Jonna can only eat the rice and the chicken. I can't swallow my pride and eat the sauce. Due to the runny nose, I lose about a liter of fluid during the meal and my eyes are so red that I'm afraid of being arrested by the next police officer for marijuana consumption. As a victorious and somehow failed man, I sit crying in front of my empty plate.
In addition, we unfortunately didn't get really full and so we visit a small beach bistro just 200 meters away - fried noodles again.
Back in the room, we are greeted by another cockroach in the bathroom. This one is much more agile and lively than its predecessor, so I promptly arm myself with one of my sandals, while Jonna gets "reinforcements" from the hostel operator. She rushes to the rescue with a broom and dustpan. From the bathroom, you can hear two quick blows with the broom. Then the woman carries the slain beast out of the room. We probably don't need to explain how uncomfortable the situation is for us - two adult, meticulous tourists standing completely clueless in front of a small insect.
We try to forget the embarrassment and go to bed.
