Meknes! A royal city!

Pibliye: 17.10.2019

Meknes! A royal city! Milla asks where the princesses are, she wants to dress up as one and then not, so that people don't think she really is a princess.
Meknes! A royal city! For the first time, we really immerse ourselves in the city, the Medina, the Souk. Martin dares to try a Tajine couscous au sucre and is surprisingly delighted! The couscous is airy, the sauce wonderfully caramelized. We now drink the typical mint tea, the kids love this sweet drink.
Meknes! A royal city! Armon is adored by the Moroccans. Everyone waves at him, kisses him, wants to take a photo with him. He doesn't care about any of that. He wants to jump through the streets, climb over curbs, and slide off benches. We try to stay calm, always keeping at least three eyes on him, and are relieved when everything is still intact after the restaurant visit.
Meknes! A royal city! After the quiet days by the sea in the more touristy area, I soak up the life here. It is loud and quiet, narrow and generous, well-maintained and run-down, known and new. We are amazed by the city walls with their wonderful gates, are not at all surprised by the ostrich and the snake charmers, and laugh when the carpet dealer waves us over and says, 'Nume luega, luega!'

And by the way:
In Kenitra we were caught speeding. 79 instead of 60 km/h. You are immediately taken out, show your papers, wait until the others have paid (as change is missing, the policewoman flags down a taxi driver to exchange money). Then it's our turn, the policeman asks us a few questions, studies something back and forth, and lets us go, the policewoman rolls her eyes. We thank them very much and walk away with a guilty conscience.
