Fraser Island

Pibliye: 01.03.2019

The last 2 days we spent on Fraser Island - an island made entirely of sand, where there are no roads or anything else (as we know it). We did this with a tour that provides 4x4 cars and you drive over the island with a total of 7 people in the car. Unfortunately, it is only allowed to drive the cars at the age of 21 :/ but sitting in the back or in the passenger seat was already very cool! We drove over rocks, through the sea, over sand and all sorts of things. We went to a shipwreck, to rivers and lakes. On the first day we were at a very shallow river where you could float on rubber rings, which was pretty funny. Then we went to the accommodation for the night and if you wanted, you could go down to the beach to see dingos. We went to the beach and unfortunately/fortunately we didn't see any dingos. Later we found out that at the time we were at the beach, a 9-year-old French boy and his mother were attacked by a pack of dingos somewhere else. We only know from the media about their current condition, but apparently their wounds are serious...:/ In the evening we went back to the accommodation for dinner, ate and played cards/had a little drink. However, we had to go to bed early because the next morning at 5:20 a.m. we went to the beach to watch the sunrise. Then we had breakfast and then off we went in the cars to the first stop of the day, which was a lake. In the lake there were small fish that nibbled off the dead skin, but I found it too scary and so I scared them away 😂 It was still very beautiful there even though the water was very green and smelled a little strange 😂 Then we went to the rainforest for lunch and then for a walk along a river that probably has the clearest water in the world. You can hardly see it, it's so clear. 😱😍 Unfortunately, we couldn't go in because the river is sacred to the residents and mothers used to give birth there. But it was really cool and fascinating to see such clear water! 😍 And then we went to Lake McKenzie, which was probably the highlight of the tour for most people. The water there is incredibly clear for a lake that you can swim in and the scenery is simply beautiful! Unfortunately, the weather didn't really cooperate for us, but we still had fun! Then we went back to the ferry and back to the mainland. From there, we went to the campground, had dinner and then it was time for good night! 🌙💤
