New Zealand - Day 25 - Start of the journey with the camper van + Lake Pukaki + Accident + Tasman Glacier

Pibliye: 27.01.2017

As life in Kiwi Experience was coming to an end and we coincidentally met Lukas (of course, a German) at Franz Josef Glacier, who had managed to get a relocation camper van cheaply, we set off with him and 3 others towards Christchurch.

First, we went to Lake Pukaki, which had completely light blue water, only the clouds made the water look dark blue, creating a cool contrast.

Then we headed towards Mt. Cook. While driving at full speed, suddenly the awning of the caravan unfolded, then the rail ripped off and hit a traffic sign on the other side. The strong wind kept hammering the awning against the camper van. A local helped us remove the tarp with tools and a ladder.

Fortunately, no one was injured by the flying parts, only a few scratches on the camper van and a broken awning.

Unfortunately, the weather there was rainy again, so we went to the nearby Tasman Glacier. Mega impressive panorama of the glacier and the area created by it (now ice-free) behind it.

Afterwards, we found a place to stay at Lake Pukaki and cooked for 6 people on the way too small stove.
