Roadtrip Day 2 / Kakadu National Park

Pibliye: 20.09.2017

After a more or less sleepless night, we were back on the road at 8 o'clock. We headed to the Nourlangie Mountains, 30km away. First, we took a 3km walk to see various art and habitats of the indigenous people. Since it was only shortly after 9 o'clock afterwards, we decided to do the Nourlangie Rock Walk. It was over 12 km, over three mountains and through countless bush landscapes. We were rewarded with beautiful views. We had to climb a lot and jump over gorges. The whole time we were scared of the venomous spiders and snakes and the water buffalo. Unfortunately, it got warmer every minute and we just wanted to reach our destination. At 11:50 am, relieved that we were still alive, we reached the parking lot. Normally, it takes 6-8 hours for this route. By noon, the thermometer had reached 38 degrees Celsius and 90% humidity. From now on, we will only walk a maximum of 5km in Australia!

Afterwards, we drove directly to a campground with showers. We rested and had a quiet night there. We also made friendly acquaintances with Australians who are traveling the same route as us. Therefore, we exchanged tips for the Gibb River Road. They were also very interested in German politics and finance (what exciting topics of conversation).
