Man, the last year went by incredibly quickly. But don't we say that every year?
Consciously taking time for things that bring us joy and consciously taking time for ourselves. All of this often falls short in the ordinary everyday life at home, which is mostly characterized by eating, working, eating, and sleeping.
That's exactly why we took a step back then and this time, which is obviously not easy at first.
2019 was an exciting year. Our friends are working on their own home or having their first child, and we quit our jobs and our apartment.
We went to New Zealand, just like we did to Australia back then. Simply to be able to travel this country more, easier, and above all, more stress-free than it is possible during the usual 3-week vacation at home.
We bought a van, converted it, and conjured up a home from it.
We did a lot of hiking, also spent a lot of cozy time in bed, in bad weather or even in good weather, just because we felt like it.
We worked on a dairy farm, had ups and downs.
We completely traveled the South Island of New Zealand and got to know our Kiwi family.
We followed the footsteps of Lord of the Rings and spent most of our trip outdoors. And sometimes we had no cell phone reception. We enjoyed that too, because we were just the two of us, without media, without all the advertising that bombards us every day. Just set aside your phone and co. more consciously. If there really is something urgent to reach you, you can also be called ;-).
We simply ate when we were hungry and whatever we craved, and there was no more perception of this almost "fitness craze" that so many people pursue too vigorously and restrictively.
Sometimes I think humanity has forgotten to simply listen to their bodies. For example, if you're not hungry in the morning, why eat breakfast? Or if you only eat in the morning and evening because you're not hungry at other times? It doesn't matter.
Enjoy. That's exactly what we should all do more often and more intensely.
Resolutions? We have none.
Don't you want to go back home? Of course, we think about home and we miss our friends and families every day, but it's not like we're never going home again. We're happy to be here and we're happy when we're back home, that's a good way to put it.
Yes, 2019 was an exciting year and we simply wish for good health for the coming years.
In this sense, we wish you all a happy new year 2020.
We spent New Year's Eve at Lake Taupo, ate delicious food, and later watched Harry Potter. Shortly before 12, we were at the beach and were able to witness a moonset and fireworks.
