My journey to Nepal began on January 11th. After Deutsche Bahn's strikes made it a little more difficult for me to get to Munich airport, I finally flew off to Kuwait on Thursday afternoon. After a stay there, I took another plane to Kathmandu - the capital of Nepal. There I was picked up by a driver and taken to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bhaktapur, where I met my coordinator Anil. He lived in Germany for 7 1/2 years and studied there at the University of Münster. After the earthquake in Nepal in 2015, he decided to work for the people in his home country and, for example, rebuilt a school and even an entire village because they had fallen victim to the earthquake. I will also do my internship at this school during my time in Nepal.
Right now I'm trying to get used to the time difference of 4 3/4 hours ahead. Tomorrow I will take a closer look at the royal city of Bhaktapur, where I will stay for 3 nights, and do some administrative work. Until then, I'll enjoy the view and the new surroundings from the roof terrace of my accommodation.
