Oops, our 1st vacation day is already over. Yesterday we made a stopover at the Citti-Park shopping center in Flensburg. We had to replenish our supplies and fill the fridge to the brim (there's no food in Norway, I think 😂) and also eat the obligatory fish sandwich at Gosch to kick off the vacation! 😋
This morning we crossed the border to our Danish neighbors 🇩🇰.
Where exactly, we decided at breakfast. Normally, we (I) am not very spontaneous, I like to plan everything in advance, but this time: no idea! 🤣
But thanks to Google, Apple Maps, and our self-sufficient camper van, everything is possible.
So we ended up here, in Aarhus, Denmark's second largest city. Since we arrived before noon, we still got a spot at the RV parking lot, a simple parking lot, not pretty, noisy, but close to the city and therefore ideal for sightseeing.
After a short lunch break, we rolled into the city center with our cool e-scooters 😎. Since the city is extremely bike-friendly, the ride was very comfortable.
I had read that the open-air museum "Den Gamle By" (The Old Town) is worth seeing. And it really is, just look at the photos! From old half-timbered houses from 1600-1900 to streets from the 1970s, everywhere you could walk through, peek inside, meet "residents", see craftsmanship, an old pharmacy, simply amazing!
The stark contrast to this is our view from the camper van to the new modern harbor city Aarhus Ø, an architectural masterpiece.
However, Ingo had to take all the photos of the futuristic buildings alone, I was exhausted after the museum visit, my feet hurt and hunger drove me back to the camper van. The way back led through the Latin Quarter and the city with many, many people, and then it hit me again: I actually don't like big cities 😂😂😂
Tomorrow we're heading to the beach 🌊
