I spend the night on a flat surface under trees right by the river. The place is like a private pitch hidden among the vineyards.
Here I can spread out, swim, have breakfast, and make a birthday video call with my niece Lahja. I especially enjoy swimming in the clean river after bathing in the sea.
Unfortunately, my mobile data is now used up and I still don't have Isabelle's address. If I had been smart, I would have added data in time, but hindsight is always 20/20... It seems the slow connection is not sufficient for Google Maps. Without GPS, I have no choice but to drive to the city center of Béziers in the hope of finding a place with Wi-Fi. Parking in the parking garage puts my nerves to the test, I'm glad my day started off so relaxed.
In the cheese shop, I let the nice Monsieur advise me on the different cheeses and behold, he also has Wi-Fi in his store. And so, this day turns out well too, I find my way comfortably to Isabelle's house where she warmly welcomes me, we have dinner together and she makes me feel at home: mi casa es tu casa - she speaks very good Spanish, so we converse in 3 languages - French, Spanish, and German, because she is currently learning German. I notice that my Spanish is still a bit better than my French, but it's funny that during our conversation, a mishmash of French and Spanish words comes out. Since she is quite tired after her long, exhausting day at work, she says goodbye and goes to bed quite early.
For the first time in 2 weeks, I am back in an apartment and get to stay in her adult daughter's former room. Even though I have fallen in love with my van life, today I especially appreciate the shower, the spaciousness, the security - the advantages of being in an apartment :)
