Day 46 - Underwater World

After returning home late last night, the alarm does not ring this morning. Therefore, on our last day in Maui, we get up a little later. A first wash is necessary and we start the washing machine with a load of clothes. After a hearty breakfast, we look in the travel guide for a beach to go snorkeling. As soon as the laundry is dry, we head to Boss Frog (snorkel rental). After waiting for about 20 minutes - waiting, waiting, and bureaucracy - we have our two snorkeling equipment. Finally, we go to Kapalua Beach, but where to park? After a 10-minute search for a parking space, we give up and continue to Honolua Beach. Before we see water and beach, we struggle through a jungle. Once we arrive at the rocky beach, we assemble the goggles, snorkel, and fins.

Let's go into the water and towards the coral reef. While Marco's (prehistoric) diving mask is waterproof, Yves has a leak and continuously fills with water. However, the one-size-fits-all goggles, snorkel, and fins are a bargain at $1.50 per day. Underwater, we see beautiful fish, sea urchins, a turtle, an eel, and corals. Depending on the current, the visibility is better or worse. We manage to take a few snapshots in the process...

Afterwards, we are drawn to Slaughterhouse Beach one last time to improve our bodyboarding skills and experience surfing. It rains lightly in between and a beautiful rainbow can be seen. At one point, a turtle even crosses our path :-)

Finally, we say goodbye to the beach and drive back to the apartment. There, we enjoy a 5-course meal thanks to our supplies that we are using up. And then it's time to pack again for the next three flights tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.
