After a short night in Oamaru, we set off early to Dunedin as we wanted to play golf on a links course by the sea, Chisholm Links, around 10:30. Shortly after we started driving, we ran into trouble. Rain and wind, wind and rain, rain and gusts of wind. The temperatures also dropped from 14 degrees to 6 degrees. First, we had breakfast in a nice but somehow cold cafe, and the view from the window didn't look promising. It was pouring and pouring and pouring. Norman had started happily in shorts and a polo shirt. I already had my rain gear on. We were both freezing our butts off and gradually put on more layers after breakfast. So we had tea in another cafe because waiting and having tea seemed like a good motto. At around 11:00, we went to the golf course and it was now pouring really hard. Despite my layers, I was freezing after 2 minutes in the rain. Besides the pro in the pro shop, we were the only two people who wanted to do anything related to golf that day. It was no use, we couldn't play, so we grumpily went back to Dunedin. There, we sullenly visited the beautiful historic train station and the new Chinese garden, had a meal at New Zealand's best cafe (it was okay but not sensational), and then drove to our new stop in Clyde. Breathtaking scenery along the way. Rainbows 🌈 in valleys, millions of sheep, rain, sun, wind, lots of podcasts. The new room at the B&B in Clyde, "Lavender Road," is beautiful again. Great room. Tomorrow we'll be cycling and hopefully it will get warmer again because there is already snow on the higher mountains here. Please come back, midsummer. We don't want any snow for Christmas, that's a misunderstanding...that's what they have in Germany. Not us!!!!!
