After one last breakfast at Jinky's Cafe, we enjoyed the view of Santa Monica Beach.
Then we took a taxi (Chevrolet Suburban👍) to the airport.
Everything went smoothly until we reached the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. They pulled out our backpack with some snacks.
The friendly officer performed a drug swab test on 3 chocolate wrappers and then inserted the test strip into a device.
When the device clearly indicated a positive result, the officer muttered a quiet 'Fuck'.
And suddenly we felt a slight unease.....
After waiting 20 minutes for the supervisor and undergoing 2 more tests, we were able to pack up and take everything with us.
So we were able to fly home together. Luckily!
At the gate, we encountered those 4 long queues for boarding again. It's incredible how many people can fit into the A380.
We had the same great seats (97A, 97C, 98A, 98C) on the upper deck as on the outbound flight. Compared to the other rows with a 3-4-3 seating arrangement and about 12 rows in a row, ours were really cool and highly recommended.
After an 11-hour flight, unfortunately none of us could sleep, and a 4.5-hour traffic-filled car ride, we arrived home satisfied but completely exhausted.
As I'm lying on the couch writing these final lines, Alexandra is already struggling with the suitcases, or rather with the dirty contents.
The ordinary daily madness has caught up with us again.
By the way, the first thing we bought was a real loaf of bread....😁
I hope you enjoyed it a bit.
So stay healthy and maybe one day dare to embark on this incredible adventure.
In this sense:
over and out.
