Today we visited the first national park on our trip. The Grand Teton NP in Wyoming. Named after the Teton Range mountain range. About 4200m high, it towers above the wide plain where the Snake River meanders along. A great backdrop with many smaller and larger lakes, such as Jenny Lake, which we liked very much. It was named after an Indian woman from the Shoshone tribe who married an English trapper.
Unfortunately, it was very crowded. That's the price we pay for getting up relatively late today. It happens. During the drive, we could see a herd of bison in the distance and a solitary coyote that looked a bit scruffy crossed our path.
By the way, since it is worth it for us, today we purchased the 'America the Beautiful Pass' annual card for $80. It is valid for all national parks in the USA. Two pass holders can be registered within one year. If you're interested, just let us know.☺ (For Nadine & Max it's free 😉)
Next stop is West Yellowstone (in Montana... the seventh state!). Our home for the next few nights. From tomorrow on, finally, the Yellowstone NP, which was the main attraction for our trip this year.😊 We had to drive through Idaho again because the southern access road to Yellowstone unfortunately only opens tomorrow. That's not really our state. Lots of agriculture, wide areas, no toilets along the way (not even pit toilets - Max is now taking out his English book😉- , that's just not possible!) and when there was a town, we didn't want to get out. Luckily, the drive only took about 3 hours.
A short day for us today, which we will now end relaxing.
