Masaya trip

Objavljeno: 26.03.2023

I've been waiting for a long time, and now I finally got to experience one of the highlights of the route: the Masaya volcano. Or rather, the volcanic system. Or even better, the crater that is always filled with lava, which was created during the last major eruption and is called Santiago Crater. Depending on where you look, it is also sometimes called something else. :D

Apart from the fact that it was of course quite spectacular to see the lava in the evening and made the place somewhat unreal, the whole volcanic system is also very fascinating and it was great to be there. Masaya itself is no longer active, the activity is limited to Santiago (or Nindiri), but the dimensions of the system are gigantic. Especially when you perceive the remains of past eruptions in the surroundings, you become aware of how catastrophic everything can quickly become. By the way, the last major eruption ensured the successful Christianization of the region (greetings go out, fcku), as it could be excellently instrumentalized to convince people of a new belief.

My Lord of the Rings heart also raced. Although I missed my companions, I can now say that no one had to carry me up to throw a ring into the fire.

In conclusion, I can say that volcanoes are the shit and stones can be so much more.
