The train journey was a roller coaster of emotions. On the first train from Copenhagen, I fell asleep and the conductor woke me up to inform me that the train was turning back. It would never reach the desired destination due to track maintenance. She helped me find another connection and told me where to get off. So I left the train in the small town of Ringsted, where I waited for the IC train that would take me directly to Hamburg. The wait time was 3 hours, so I spread out my sleeping mat and sleeping bag and tried to get some more sleep.
The IC train arrived in the early morning hours and took me to Hamburg without any problems. There, I boarded the express train to Osnabrück. On the train, I met a Danish guy and we chatted a bit. He had just started his Interrail journey and was very excited. He was also going to Amsterdam, so we got on the last train together and made plans to meet the next day when we arrived.
First, I went to Alexa's, the friend I was visiting in Amsterdam. We had dinner and then went back to the city center, where we met our mutual friend Stefan, who we had both met in Armenia. We sat down at a bar, had drinks with a group of Australians, and shared stories from our shared past.
In the end, Stefan and I were alone at the bar and when it got late, we walked together to the train station, where Stefan would take the metro and I would take the train back to Lexa's apartment. Unfortunately, the train was canceled and there were no more trains afterwards. I decided to walk, as public transportation wouldn't have gotten me to my destination any faster. So I walked for an hour, through the dark outskirts of Amsterdam, and arrived at my host's apartment around half past one, where I quickly fell into bed.
