The day started foggy, sea fog, a phenomenon we have encountered here several times. One thing is certain, I would never, ever want to sit in a boat on the sea in sea fog. (I always have to think of Asterix and Obelix, I think it must have been the sea mist with the British.)
After a short run, we went to the fort as soon as it opened. Della was here many years ago, we tried to recreate the photo sitting on the cannon and are excited to see what the original really looks like at home. There isn't that much to see on site, especially since the fog moved over the site again after some sunshine, but the exhibition with explanations of seafaring is definitely worth a visit.
A surprise that had already been announced the day before was waiting for Della. The trip went to the Cabo de Sao Vicente and there directly to the “Last Bratwurst before America” stand. Maybe someone was happy, finally a bratwurst again! ;-)
At this point in the journey we had no choice but to change direction and not drive any further away from home. We drove east towards Lagos to a campsite with a washing machine.
Unfortunately the weather didn't really cooperate; there was no rain, but the high humidity didn't really allow the laundry to dry. Before we went to the next village of Luz for dinner, we found creative interior hanging options.
The Amigos restaurant we chose was pretty special, drunken English people on the terrace, a very thirsty younger lady at the regulars' table and a man drumming along to the music (sometimes also playing the violin, playing the drums, etc.). The surroundings and also the landlady at least somewhat reduced the lack of quality of the food.
