Today we had another full day ahead of us. Once again, we had to pack our bags. After checking out, the hotel arranged a shuttle for us to the airport. The driver was on the edge of a nervous breakdown when he saw our luggage. He had four more passengers in his minivan, and somehow we managed to fit all our stuff in the car. At the airport, we headed to the car rental station. The friendly lady at the counter immediately realized that the booked vehicle category would never be enough for us and our luggage. So we switched to the next larger category. But when we loaded the car, it became clear that this vehicle was also too small. We immediately got an even bigger car, a Chrysler 300C.
Once everything was finally stowed away, we set off for Monterey. After leaving San Francisco in the fog, the sky became bluer and the temperature changed from nasty to cool.
In Monterey, there is a very nice aquarium. We had already organized the tickets from Switzerland. So, apart from a short food stop, we quickly got to the aquariums.
There are large schools of sardines, sharks, jellyfish, tunas, and much more to admire. Information about ocean ecosystems is also provided. We had a very interesting afternoon. After checking into our hotel, we were able to explore the beach promenade and the Fisherman's Wharf of Monterey. It would definitely be worth spending a few more days here. Our hotel was also impeccable. They wanted to take the car from us right at the entrance, park it, and unload our luggage. But we couldn't expect a stranger to do that, so we declined this service. Due to lack of time, we had to skip the entire spa area as well.
