Located in the most northwestern corner of the USA, Olympic NP can be reached through the small port city of Port Angeles. Geographically isolated on a peninsula, everything is a little different here. For example, we saw a covered sky for the first time in over a month, and the next day it even rained - and how!
Once again, we found magnificent nature. In the middle of the park are the glacier-covered mountains, and on the slopes are the rainforest. Here too, we were able to enjoy great hikes, sometimes through mystical clouds on the mountain slopes, sometimes in pouring rain through the rainforest, sometimes on the rough Pacific coast between shell-covered rocks and vast amounts of driftwood. We had a good time there.
After the hot areas of the last few weeks, it was a welcome change. With over 4,000 liters per square meter per year, an incredibly dense rainforest forms even in the cool Pacific air. Moss-covered trees, dense undergrowth, the constant cycle of dying and regrowing. In addition, there is the rough coast and once again animals that you don't see at home. This place is highly recommended!
